NEW TRACKING OPPORTUNITIES AND BOOKING UPDATES FROM UGANDA WILDLIFE AUTHORITY
Uganda’s wildlife scene is evolving. To help you plan your next safari without the hiccups, here are three essential updates regarding new tracking opportunities and booking updates from the Uganda Wildlife Authority.
New On-Site Cash Payments
Paying for park services just got a bit more convenient. The Uganda Wildlife Authority installed an in-plant machine at the Kampala Headquarters Reservations Office.
The installation of this in-plant machine implies that anyone can now make cash payments directly on-site.
- Operating Hours: Weekdays (8:30 AM – 4:30 PM) and Saturdays (9:00 AM – 1:00 PM).
- The 24-hour clearing window: All your permits or other related services will only be finalized once the bank confirms the transaction. It is recommended to book and clear all permits and all other related requirements before the trip.
The Addition of Happy and Nshanjare Gorilla Groups into the Tracking System
There has been an addition of the gorilla groups in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to the booking system. This sounds like good news for primate lovers.
The Happy Group is found within the Buhoma Sector and the Nshanjare Group in the Rushaga Sector.
With the inclusion of these two gorilla families in the booking system, UWA is strictly ending the issuance of extra gorilla permits. Every trekker must now book through the official inventory. Make sure you secure your slot in time.
Tracking the Elusive African Golden Cat
For those seeking something off the beaten path, tracking is now open for the African Golden Cat in the Kanyanchu area (Ngogo Road).
Booking process: tracking the golden cats isn’t in the digital system yet; you must book on the ground at least 24 to 48 hours in advance.
Cost: The specialized 5-day experience costs $350 per person for foreign non-residents, foreign residents, and the rest of Africa, while East African citizens pay UGX 350,000.
Tour operators are requested to provide tourists with a primary guide, though UWA will assign armed rangers to support your expedition.
Please contact us for guidance on any queries related to booking, ensuring seamless planning for your Uganda safari.
