Safari Activities Maintaining Rates

Certain safari activities remain at previous rates, ensuring continuity for planning:

  • Gorilla Trekking (peak season)
  • Game drives in Uganda’s national parks
  • Birdwatching and sport fishing
  • Park entrance fees for adults and children
  • Vehicle entry fees and campsite charges

Booking must still be done via licensed Uganda tour operators, especially for foreign non-resident and regional visitors.

Suspension of 7-Day Reservation Window

Previously, UWA allowed 7-day permit reservations without immediate payment, often leading to speculative bookings.

New Policy (Effective 1 March 2026)

  • Immediate payment is required to secure permits.
  • Ensures fair access for clients with confirmed bookings
  • Reduces cancellations and increases transparency
  • Promotes efficient service delivery for operators and tourists

Why These Changes Matter

  • Boost Low-Season Tourism: Encourages travel during off-peak months
  • Conservation Funding: Directs revenue to anti-poaching and habitat protection
  • Fair Permit Distribution: Reduces speculative bookings and ensures availability for genuine travelers
  • Enhanced Safari Experiences: Introduces new activities like Rhino and Golden Cat Tracking.
