Day 1: Transfer From Kampala To Fort Portal, Cycle In The Mpanga Tea Estates, Adventure Amabeere Caves, Hike To Fort Portal Crater Lake Field & Drive To Kibale Forest National Park
From your lodge in Kampala, you’ll enjoy an early breakfast around 6:30 am. And then, meet our professional drive guide to embark on a 300km (5-6 hours) drive to Fort Portal town– Uganda’s cleanest town.
While on this scenic drive from Kampala, you’ll pass through beautiful towns of Uganda such as Mityana, Mubende, and Kyenjojo as well as picturesque landscapes not forgetting Mubende inselbergs.
You’ll arrive in the lush rolling green tea estate of Mpanga in the mid-morning and embark on a cycling tour experience.
While on the mountain bike, you’ll explore the beautiful rolling landscape of this scenic tea estate as well as enjoy its endless lovely views.
During your cycling adventure, you’ll encounter the estate staff plucking tea and for a memorable experience on your Uganda safari, you’re free to participate also.
After this thrilling adventure, continue driving to the beautiful Fort Portal town where you’ll settle for lunch.
On finishing lunch, visit Amabeere cave which is named after the live stalactite and stalagmite formation. Amabeere Ga Nyinamwiru translates as the breasts of Nyinamwiru.
Note:
There’s a local legend which has it that, these amazing breast-like features in these caves belonged to Nyinamwiru– a daughter of King Bukuku who is said to have been so beautiful that every man could admire!
When Nyinamwiru’s father King Bukuku became tired of getting marriage proposals from unsuitable suitors, he went to tremendous lengths of cutting off his daughter’s breasts to lessen her beauty.
From the cave area, embark on the charming hike to the spectacular Fort Portal Crater Lake Field. You’ll transverse via the challenging slope of Kyeganywa hill which is encircled by numerous attractive crater lakes and crater hollows. Some of these amazing crate lakes are over 400m deep.
This area is one of the most beautiful sites in Uganda worth visiting!
While on top of Kyeganywa hill, you’ll enjoy great panoramic views of the snow-capped peaks of the Rwenzori Mountains, especially on a clear day.

Day 2: Enjoy Chimpanzee Trekking Adventure In Kibale National Park And Transfer Back To Kampala
You’ll wake up early in the morning and have your breakfast around 6:30 am. This is intended so that you catch up with the chimpanzee trekking briefing at 8 am at park headquarters.
In the briefing, an expert ranger will share with you the dos and don’ts while undertaking chimpanzee trekking in Kibale National Park.
From here, real trekking in search of man’s cousins will start in the Kibale jungle.
Chimps in Kibale park have been open for tourism since 1993 and travelers have over a 95% chance of locating these amazing and intelligent apes.
Kibale holds over 1,500 Chimpanzees and the fully habituated ones are found in the Kanyanchu area.
The trekking can take about 2-5 hours depending on the movement of chimps and it’s only limited to 6 participants all aged over 15 years of age.
During the trekking, you’ll encounter several beautiful birds, plants, butterflies, and other lovely primates in Kibale Forest such as:
- Black and white colobus
- Olive baboons
- Red-tailed monkey,
- Vervet monkey
- L’Hoest’s monkey
